Plants of Lapham Peak Woodlands

Look what’s growing all around you! Yes, trees but also plants. Many woodland plants can be found as you walk the Plantation Path. Some near the Hausmann Nature Center were planted by the Hausmanns. In the spring you’ll find Virginia bluebells, trillium, bellwort and bloodroot.

As spring turns to summer, you may see Virginia waterleaf, May apples, jack-in-the-pulpit and wild geraniums. See how many varieties of ferns you can spot on the forest floor. Don’t be fooled by mock strawberries!

Further into the woods, along the unpaved paths you may discover shooting stars.
